It sounds like a so-bad-it’s-good SyFy movie of the week, but it’s not. The middle of the USA is getting hit by record-low temperatures, caught up in something that they’re calling a “polar vortex”. Out here on the East coast, we’re not faring much better. Sounds miserable, right? Lucky for me, I’ve got some temperature-raising writing to do to usher in 2014.
Did you like that segue?
So much to do, and a brand new year in which to get it done. Revisions for Starstruck are moving along. They’re taking much longer than expected, but with over 170,000 words, even after the second draft, there is still quite a bit of work to do to retrofit this serial-novel into a, well, novel-novel. I had to step away from Sam and Val for a bit so that I could come back to them with fresh eyes.
In the meantime, I wrote the first draft of Humbug Love, the first in (what I hope will be) a series of holiday romances that will debut in December of this year. I also outlined Starlight, the sequel to Starstruck, and made some notes on the myriad other stories I have up my sleeve.
For me, 2013 was a fantastic introduction into the world of writing. Now it’s time for me to take what I learned and dip my toe in the publishing water.
Ooo! Warm.
Happy New year, Xiomaniacs! I hope to be a small part of your good times.
And happy reading!
