Welcome to another blog hop from Romance Writers Weekly! As you know, each week we try to bring you something different. This week, Sarah Hegger prompted us to tell her “All I want for Christmas.” This can be anything: a memoir,a thought, a wish list or a 200 word Flash Fiction. Did you just wander over from reading Carolyn Spear‘s entry? What did she wish for?
All I want for Christmahanukwanzika is more peace in the world. I’m not naive enough to ask for world peace. People are people. But I think a little more kindness, a little more tolerance and a little more understanding would go a long way towards peaceful coexistence. We seem to be going backwards in a lot of ways.
So peace is what I want and what I wish for you all.
I was going to stop at a wish list, but then this little, romantic scene popped into my head. 😉 Enjoy!
“I lied.”
“So did I,” she laughed. “But I left yours at my place. So, what is it?”
He smiled. “You’ll have to wait.”
“I don’ wanna.” She batted her eyelashes in long sweeps of amber that kissed her cheeks.
“What are you, twelve?” He chuckled. “It’s almost midnight.”
“You’re really going to make me wait?” One delicate eyebrow arched in disbelief. In truth, he was even more anxious for her to open her Christmas gift than she was. Anxious. Nervous.
Freaking terrified.
“You’re mean.” One corner of her mouth lifted as she eyed the large square box. Extending one long leg, she elegantly nudged it with her toe.
“No cheating.”
“I was only stretching.”
He threw back his head and laughed. God, he loved her like this. Playful and confident. “Stretching?”
The leg swung slowly toward him and he caught her foot in his hands, rubbing it instinctively. She rewarded him with a satisfied moan.
“If you keep doing that, I can wait until New Year’s.”
I can’t.
He’d already waited long enough. If she only knew how hard it was to watch the clock tick towards the beginning of the rest of his life. The beginning, he hoped, of their life together.
The clock struck twelve and she snatched up the package. Ripped into it like a giddy child. He watched her confusion as she opened the larger box and found the small one inside.
Big brown eyes blinked up at him.
“What…?”
He met her watery gaze, his vision blurring. “All I want for Christmas is you.”

Hope you enjoyed that. =) Stop by and see what Susan Scott-Shelley has on her wish list this year.
Have a Happy Hanukkah and very Merry Christmas!
Very nice Miss Xio. And I agree with you, peace and kindness in our every day lives. Living with that more mindfully and passing it on. One tiny act of courtesy or kindness has the power to spread, even it it just makes someone else’s day a heartbeat easier
Thank you, my lovely! So true. Kindness would spread like wildfire, if we let it. Let’s see what we can do in 2015. =) oxo
Sweet short! I love how nervous he sounds.
Thanks! And yeah, me too. =)
Loved that short scene!!
Thank you, Collette!
Xio, your wish has left me humbled. Thanks for putting things into perspective and for sharing that short scene. Happy Holidays to you.
Aww, shucks. =) Have a lovely holiday!
Well, with two of us wishing for the same thing, we’ve got twice the mojo going for us. Hope both of us get what we want. Merry Christmahanukwanzika, Xio!
Here’s hoping there’s more than just the two of us. =) Merry Chrismahanukwanzika to you!
That was a great little scene! Loved it, and thank you for sharing!
And I agree with you, peace would just be so darn peaceful 😉
Happy Holidays to you and yours!!
Thanks, Jami! And yes, it really would. =) Merry merry!
Le sigh! Lovely scene.
World peace is not Naïve, it’s hopeful. Without hope, we are lost. Have a very Merry Christmas, my friend.
Thanks, Andrea! So true, without hope we would be lost indeed. Have a lovely holiday. =)
